Alcantarea Imperialis Rubra is a native of Brazil and grows to 2m wide. It has a stunning, colourful flower spike that can reach 2.5m.
As you can see on the photo's, Alcantarea imperilis rubra has amazing colour to its foliage, and they will flower with hundreds of small white and great scented flowers.This Bromeliad, formerly also known as 'Vriesea imperialis rubra', grows well in full sun and partial shade and can handle a vast range of temperatures. They will grow in just about any soil but will thrive best if well drained. Also suitable for pots.
