Colorama Brightens the Day
The Dracaena Colorama is the kind of plant everybody loves. If you put a Dracaena ‘Colorama’ in your living space, not only will it brighten your day with gorgeous hues but it will basically survive on its own. In the garden, she’s just as strong and also incredibly carefree. The meaning for ‘Dracaena’ suggests ‘female dragon’ and the exciting frond-like flares are often trimmed along the reptilian trunk which gives the tuft atop a dragon-head effect.
Gardeners, business owners, and indoor plant lovers benefit from the plant’s ability to survive on minimal light and at a room-temperature climate.
The Dracaena ‘Colorama’ is now available at National Tropical Plants.
The Dracaena Colorama is a beautifully vibrant member of the Dracaena family (Liliaceae) which is the same family of the Yucca plant. Although not an ‘actual’ palm, this spectacular dragon tree is an easy way to add a tropical appearance to any landscape or room. Indoors, this special plant is said to have air-purifying qualities. The leaves of the Colorama are wonderful reds to purple and they grow from long shoot like canes. These durable, adorable, and low maintenance plants are a favourite for the home, office or business lobby.
Dracaena Colorama thrives at 25 Celsius, growing best in bright, indirect light and a well draining soil. Acclimated as houseplants, lower light levels are acceptable but bright light will give the best results for beautiful leaves. Fertilisers are not necessary and some can actually damage the plant by leading to rot, so be careful of additives. The Dracaena Marginata reaches 4-5 metres in height when grown in an outdoor landscape or about 2 metres when potted indoors. The height can also be controlled by simply cutting off the top.
Common Names: Dracaena Marginata ‘Colorama’ , Red Dracaena, Red Madagascar dragon tree.
