We have some new plants up for grabs in our plant nursery, and below is a summary of them....

  • BismarckBismark Palmia nobilis, the Bismarck Palm. We have only limited stock of these beautiful palms so grab your chance while you can. The Bismarck Palm is a magnificent, very impressive large palm with a heavy crown of huge blue-green fronds. This palm has a solid trunk which is fairly squat and can reach 10m tall. It is a very fast growing palm once it has established itself. Best grown in a sunny position with well-draining soil. It's also drought AND frost tolerant!
  • Aloe africana, the AAfrican Tree Aloefrican Tree Aloe. Also, limited stock on this one, and we won't be restocking this impressive Aloe so once they're gone they're gone! This is a beautiful Tree Aloe from Africa adaptable to a wide range of conditions. Aloe Africana has blue-green foliage and bird-attracting yellow flowers. It is a solitary Aloe and grows up to 2m tall, wearing a skirt of died-off leaves. Easy to grow, thrives in coastal regions, is great as a pot plant and handles full sun to part shade. It's in our 10 for $25 category, so why not get some to give as presents, line your driveway etc.

  • Pandorea Lady Di - a climbing plant which is very hardy. Only about 10 left, and that's it!
  • The Solitaire Palm, Ptychosperma elegans. It's not entirely new to our nursery, but it's back in stock after a couple of years of not having a steady stock range. This will probably be a palm which will stay in our nursery range. The Solitaire Palm is a graceful, slender, grey-trunked palm which grows up to 10m tall. It has semi-erect leaves and produces bright red fruits. They're popular in the south as potted plants for inside the house and they are very suitable for shady positions. The fronds aren’t as big and hard to deal with as those of the Alex Palm, so they are a great landscaping alternative. They are fast growers.
  • Prince Sago PalmThe Prince Sago Palm, Cycas taitungensis, a real beauty of a plant - will be available very soon. I've listed it so you can click the 'notify me' button, and be notified via email once they come in. There will only be a limited amount at this size, they're beautiful big plants so if you're looking for a more advanced size of plant for your garden, take a look at this one. They're famous for their legendary growth, and it's true. Once established in the garden, which may take them a season, they shoot up 5-6 leaves a year, which is amazing for a cycad!
  • Drimiopsis maculata, the African Hosta, or Leopard Plant as we used to call it. Nice little well behaved ground cover for shady spots - spotted foliage and white flowers on a stalk.
