frangipaniFrangipani flowers are some of the most stunning tropical flowers around. They come in a huge range of colours, from the most common white variety to pinks, reds, purples and many more. Frangipani trees are known for their hardiness and can survive in the poorest conditions. They will lose their foliage in winter, and will regrow beautifully in spring with a fresh coverage of long, bright green leaves.

Frangipani plants adjust to most situations, including very dry positions, and will thrive with the least amount of care. They will grow bigger in the tropics and subtropics than they do in southern parts of Australia, where they are most busFrangipani Watermelonh-like, rather than a tree.

Frangipani’s are covered in the prettiest flowers throughout spring and summer, and have a wonderful fragrance.

Growing Frangipani’s

Frangipani plants respond well to regular fertilizing & pruning. They appreciate some fire ash around the base of their trunk, a suitable slow release fertilise, or applications of an organic fertilizer. Mulch the soil around the base of the trunk well to keep the moisture & nutrients where it’s needed, but be sure to keep the mulch away from the trunk a little bit to prevent rot.

White FrangipaniGrow your Frangipani’s in a full sun position, in preferably well draining soil. They definitely benefit from occasional watering, especially when you are establishing the plant in the garden, and during dry periods.

Frangipani propagation

Frangipani’s are usually propagated from cuttings or seed. When you purchase a specific cultivar, such as our Watermelon, you need to make sure you purchase a plant grown from cuttings, as plants grown from seed will often not come true to type. They will often have different flower colours than the plant you purchased.
