How to feed large tree? 1 Year, 7 Months ago Karma: 0
I have a tree in the middle of my lawn that I want to fertilise to give it a bit of TLC and green it up - how do I go about it?

hello grsm,
There's a few different methods you can use to fertilise your tree. Which method depends on the type of soil you have, and the climate. You can use Root Plug Feeding if you are in a mild climate with moderate rainfall. Basically, you make a whole heap of holes around your tree with an auger (buy at your nursery or hardware), inside the drip line of the tree, and deposit slow release inside these holes. Liquid feeding is good in dry soil, because liquid fertiliser is readily available to the plant. If you are in a heavy rainfall area, you can surface feed inside the drip line of the tree, and let the rain water it in. Water it in yourself first though, as rain might was all your fertiliser away. Otherwise, you can mulch over the top to keep it in the right spot under the tree.
