Alpine Strawberry 'Ali Baba'

Ask a question about this product

Alpine Strawberry 'Ali Baba' (Fragaria vesca)

Strawberry Ali Baba is a woodland strawberry, or 'wild' strawberry. The fruits, which follow the small white flowers, have a beautiful strong flavour and are great for eating fresh, straight of the strawberry plant, or making into jam. The plants themselves are fairly small, around 20cm tall, and have nice, lush, bright green foliage. Alpine Strawberries are non-running and only clump from the base of the plant. Propagation is from seed and can sometimes be done from offsets as well.

Strawberry Ali Baba is very easy to grow, as long as adequate water is given. They are best grown in full sun to part shade, in temperate to subtropical climates. It's best to cover your Strawberry plants with some netting to keep birds & wildlife away from the fruits.

Common names:

Strawberry Bush Alpine, Alpine Strawberry, Ali Baba Strawberry

Supplied as: plants, 5cm tall

Strawberry Ali Baba is one of the nicest strawberries I have ever tasted! Not only that, this plant also seems to grow equally well in full sun and part shade - great as I can now grow it under my dense Hibiscus shrub where nothing else seemed to grow well. It even fruits well, although I always compete with the possums :)
