The Foxtail Palm's habitat is the gravel hills on Cape Melville in Cape York. It is a very attractive palm with 2-3m long leaves which grows up to 10m tall with a grey trunk. It produces large orange fruits (about the size of a duck egg!) This palm was only discovered in the 1970’s and its seeds were always in high demand, the QLD government still has the Foxtail on their endangered species list, even though there are now many of these palms growing throughout the world. The Foxtail Palm is one of the most popular landscaping palms in Australia. It is a hardy palm which is very adaptable and is able to handle full sun from an early age (adjust it slowly though!). The Foxtail Palm is also drought tolerant, wind tolerant and frost tolerant! Comon names: Foxtail Palm, Fox Tail Palm, Foxy Supplied as: small plants, 10-20cm tall.
