Bamboo
Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants in the world, and is part of the grass family 'Poaceae'. We have included both 'true' bamboo, and bamboo palms in this category. Bamboo palms resemble bamboo, but are in fact palm trees. There are more than 1500 different species of bamboo, and are found in a wide range of climates, from cold to hot. Bamboo plants are useful as plants for a privacy screen, are used for commercial timber harvest, and are also a valueble source of food for both people and animals. There are two general varieties of bamboo, the 'clumping' and 'running' plants. Clumping bamboo expands slowly, producing shoots right at the base of the plant. Running bamboo has a much more agressive growth habit, and needs to be restrained in garden use. We do not sell running, or invasive bamboo
