Dragon Trees
The Dragon Tree family (Dracaena) includes about 40 perennial herbs and evergreen shrubs or trees, mostly from tropical West Africa. They have smooth, glossy, sword-like leaves which are often variegated. Dracaena’s are grown for their ornamental value in the garden and many are very popular as a potted plant.
The best know Dracaena is probably the Dragon's Blood Tree (Dracaena draco), which is a fascinating, ancient tree often used in landscaping for it's unique appearance.

Dracaena draco is often called Dragon Tree, or Dragon's Blood Tree. It is a living fossil, and these days only exists in the Canary Islands in natural habitat.
