The Allamanda Jamaican Sunset (Allamanda carthartica ‘Jamaica Sunset’) is a unique variation of a beautiful exotic flower. The trumpet shaped flowers are a soft brown with pink to purple highlights.

Since the Allamandas are fast growing and lavish climbers, bunches of Allamanda make a spectacular display on a fence or trellis. A bushier shrub can be formed by cutting back the lush growth of climbing foliage.

Allamandas prefer temperate to hot climates and once established the plants do not require heavy watering. They grow best in moderately rich soil that is well-drained. These lovely plants can also be grown in sheltered areas or potted indoors to create suitable growing environments. Allamanda plants are considered poisonous, children and pets should not be allowed near them unsupervised.

Growing Tips for Allamanda Jamaican Sunset

This tropical plant will need protection from frosts and for best flowering, Allamandas need six hours of sun daily. Using moist soil with nutrients and/or organic mulches will prevent drying during summer. Care should be taken while handling plants because the plants contain a milky sap which may cause skin irritation.
