Indoor Dragon Tree (Dracaena hookeriana)

This is a very nice, small Dracaena which grows to aprox 1.5m tall. It is fantastic as a house plant, and is often used for that purpose, due to its tolerance of low light conditions. They are definitely best planted in a group of around 3-4 for maximum effect. Foliage is very thick and leather-like, and nice fragrant flowers open at night. Once the berries have formed, this plant will attract lots of birds & insects to the garden.

Best grown indoors or in a shady position with lots of indirect light in the garden. Foliage is very thick, and can be damaged by strong winds. I recommend planting it in a sheltered position without strong gusts of wind or draughts. Select a rich, organic soil which is well draining, and water regularly in summer, less in winter. This Dracaena does not handle frost, it will need to be taken inside if you are experiencing frost, or grow in a sheltered position on the verandah or indoors.
