Very tough tree to 15m tall. Great hedge also, to 4m tall. Evergreen. Fragrant flowers, purple edible fruits great for jam!

Chocolate Pudding Fruit (Diospyros digyna)

This tree will survive in a variety of soils, nutrient conditions and average sun. The leaves are glossy, oblong, and tapered at both ends. Many trees bear pit-less fruit. Black Sapote fruit are similar in size to an apple or tomato. The skin is coloured with dark greens and yellows with brown speckles when ripe and it has an edible pulp that is the colour, texture and, some say even taste like, chocolate pudding....For more click on title or 'product details'

Jew Pine (Podocarpus macrophyllus 'Maki')

Small to medium size subtropical evergreen. Grown as a tree reaching 20 m tall or cut back to form a shrub 2-3m tall, they thrive outdoors in the warmest regions and are desired for their foliage which is vibrant chartreuse with contrasting greens. The lovely foliage forms scales that swell up reddish purple and fleshy like berries. This tree responds well to pruning and as they mature, the "Maki" is popular as a bonsai. Royal Poinciana Tree (Delonix regia)

Stunning display of bright red flowers from December to February. Around 10m tall with very wide canopy, perfect as a shade tree. Needs space! Full sun, frost free position.
